THE FIJI PROJECT

EST. 2016

The Fiji Project works in some of the most remote and disadvantaged schools in Fijian villages to identify the needs of the children at these schools and supply students with resources to increase their quality of education. Hygiene supplies and educational tools were distributed throughout the schools during presentations and workshops advocating the importance of hygiene and good physical and mental health. During this project Scholarships were distributed to students in need of financial assistance, to improve their performance in school and to make life a little easier.

When children’s basic needs are not met, accessing their learning at school becomes very difficult.

I now realise that it only takes a small amount of time and effort from myself and others who have been involved with the Fiji Schools project, combined with the generosity and support of the local community, to significantly benefit the lives of those in need. This small contribution to these very deserving children, increased their quality of education and consequently improved their quality of life.

OUR CURRENT PROJECTS -

We have funded a  Student Learning Centre, which will be the first of its kind in Fiji. It is currently under construction at Nawai Secondary School, Fiji. This facility will be a state of the art complex for students to access supported study and learning before and after school hours.

RESONATE FOR THIS PROJECT:

Quality educational outcomes are often limited for students living in rural Fiji. These children cannot access a safe, secure or uninterrupted area for study. A large percentage of students indicated that they were living in improvised dwellings where all family members live in the one room. This makes it almost impossible for students to complete school work before and after school hours.

- Transport for The Treasure House's Orphanage. The 'Treasure House 'provides a safe and secure home for countless orphan children. The home currently has a mini-van which is used to transport children. This van is the Treasures Houses only mode of transport and without a bus there is no way for these children to access school, medical appointments and other vital services, which are a quiet sizeable distance walk for these small children. Currently the van is not in working condition due to mechanical problems and has lapsed registration. The Fiji Project is hoping to have this bus up and running in 2020.

RESONATE FOR THE PROJECT -

It is often unsafe and has a significant toll on small children to be walking large distances to and from school, shops and markets everyday day. This van is the only form of transport these children have that now enables them to get to school, doctors and hospitals etc. safely.

All of the projects we do would not be possible without the generous support from the local community and everyone else who has kindly supported our passion.

 2017 FIJI PROJECT FILM -

During our time volunteering, footage was collected and students interviewed about the hardships that are involved in attending school and their perspective on the importance of an education.

A short film was developed that captures the essence of these students passion and devotion to become educated.

This film has since been presented to students in the local region. We have received exceptionally positive responses from students and teachers, affirming the impactful nature of this cultivating film.
